My Art
Following My Passion Caught Fire on a Trip to Rome!
It’s funny how life can sometimes take unexpected turns, leading us back to our true passions. More than a decade ago, I found myself on a half-day sketching tour in Rome—a city that has always held a special place in my heart, being of Italian heritage. The moment I stepped onto those cobblestone streets, surrounded by the grandeur of ancient architecture and the vibrant hum of life, something awakened within me.
Rome has always been my favourite city, a living canvas that tells stories through its art, history, and culture. That day, as I sat with my sketchbook, I was captivated by the beauty around me. I watched locals, tourists, and artists alike, each person a brushstroke in the vibrant tapestry of the city. The light danced off the buildings, the sounds of laughter and conversation filled the air, and I felt an overwhelming urge to capture it all on paper. It was incredible—this simple act of drawing became a meditation, a way to truly appreciate the world around me.
Grown into an Obsession
Since that day, my passion for art has grown into an obsession. I’ve poured my heart and soul into creating, exploring not just the beauty of my surroundings but delving deep into my feelings and emotions. My art has evolved, reflecting the complexities of life and the narratives that often go untold.
One of the most poignant themes I’ve found myself drawn to is the plight of the middle-aged white guy. It’s a perspective that, on the surface, might seem trivial, but beneath it lies a rich commentary on identity, vulnerability, and the search for purpose in a rapidly changing world.
Through my work, I aim to explore the struggles, insecurities, and often overlooked experiences of this demographic. It’s a journey of self-discovery, an exploration of what it means to be a man in today’s society, grappling with expectations and societal roles. My art creations become a voice for these feelings—raw, honest, sometimes humorous, and always relatable.
Producing Art Daily
So here I am, well over a decade later, still sketching, still creating, and still captivated by the incredible power of art.
What began as a simple sketching tour in Rome turned into a passionate journey of expression, reflection, and connection. And as I continue to navigate through my creative process, I am reminded that art is not just about what we see; it’s about how we feel, the stories we tell, and the conversations we spark.
